Collins Street
Five o'clock Collins Street

Date: 25 June 2006
Artist: Wynne Ma

Medium: Pencils
Comments: This drawing was an art-class exercise in Year 9 – to see if I can complete the painting in a sketch if a section was cut off. So this was based on Five o’clock Collins Street by John Brack who completed the painting in 1975. The real painting is brown in a monochromatic colour scheme.

I chose this painting to sketch because I loved the social statement; men and women going home from work, everyone walking in the same direction and coats, hats and faces with similar shapes.

At first I wanted to just crop out the section that I sketched, but then I reconsidered. I am sure no one will have trouble spotting out the difference between photocopied paper and my sketch.
